Sisters and brothers:
Good News! The new doors have arrived safe and sound and have been placed in the foyer awaiting installation. (We hope to have our installation done within the next few weeks.) The doors are beautiful and will greatly enhance our entrance – letting folks know “This is the place to enter.” Thanks to Rack, Paul, Eric (not shown) Victor, and Paul for helping to get the door wrestled into place.
This week, rather than musing about a particular topic, I simply want to highlight several things going on around our parish. You can find out more about these events below. All are worthy of your attention.
On Thursday, everyone is invited to participate in the Pride Interfaith Service at B’Nai Emunah at 7 p.m. The Interfaith Pride planning team is striving to make these services more enjoyable and have paid attention to making sure they are relatively short in length. The featured speaker this year is the Rev. Twila Gibbons. Also that same day some folks are planning to attend the “rehearsal” of An Act of God, a play featuring our own David Virili.
On Saturday thousands of folks will be gathering in downtown Tulsa for the Pride Celebration. We will be staffing our regular St. Jerome booth from noon till 6 pm. Folks are invited to stop by and say “hi” and of course help us share information about our beloved family of faith. This is a great way to practice a bit of evangelism to a friendly crowd (e.g. those who are interested in our church).
On Sunday, BE SURE TO BE IN WORSHIP for the Feast of Pentecost! Pentecost is the culmination of the 50 days of Easter. It commemorates the birth of the Church when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples as they gathered in the upper room. You are encouraged to wear red, orange, gold or yellow as a reminder of your own anointing with the fire of the Holy Spirit.
Lastly, have you bought your tickets yet? Be sure to get your tickets to the Bobby Jo Valentine Concert and Spaghetti Supper coming up on June 14th.
